The Advent season is a time to prepare our hearts and minds for Christ’s second coming at the end of time. This season also prepares us to celebrate the Lord’s birth on Christmas.
Some Advent devotions include spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, attending reconciliation services and parish missions, praying together as a family, and reflecting on ways to draw nearer to Christ.
For a FUN FAMILY ACTIVITY, create an Advent wreath; bless your Advent wreath (an Advent wreath blessing can be found on the USCCB website here); and please share a picture of your Advent wreath with your St. Basil family! We would love to see it!
Email a picture of your Advent wreath to webmaster@stbasilvallejo.org to be uploaded to our parish website. The picture can include your wreath only or a picture of your family with your Advent wreath. Please note: the ideal file size for the picture is 128 pixels width by 128 pixels height. The picture will be cropped to fit the gallery module. Please include your name with the image. Check out our gallery of pictures below of family Advent wreath submissions that we have already received!
One way to draw nearer to Christ is to reflect on the suggestions listed in the Advent Calendar below. Our Advent calendar can help you fully enter into the season with daily activities and prayer suggestions to prepare you spiritually for the birth of Jesus Christ. (from usccb.org)
The information in the Advent Calendar below comes from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' website. We hope that the suggestions contained in this calendar inspire you to reflect on this Advent season and prepare you for the birth of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
