Under the Black Catholic Ministry (BCM) of the Diocese of Sacramento, the Sister Thea Bowman Group at St. Basil the Great Church in Vallejo was formed in order to share our black Catholic identity, culture, spirituality, song, dance, and gesture with all who would like to learn about black contributions to the Church. Like Sister Thea, “we bring to America the sweet memory of Africa.”
The “Speaking the Truth in Love” series is designed to teach everyone about the contributions, beauty, and richness of influential black Catholics. Beginning Sunday, September 20, 2020, at 2:00 PM and continuing every 3rd Sunday of the month, we will discuss the life of a black Catholic notable and what it means to be black and Catholic. All are welcome!
