Anyone who welcomes you, welcomes me; and those who welcome me, welcome the one who sent me (Matthew 10:40).
From the earliest days of the Church, when people gathered for prayer, they were led by and served by members of their local communities. This ancient and venerable practice continues to the present day and is nowhere more evident than when we gather to celebrate the sacred mysteries. The assembly does “all and only those parts which belong to them, so that the very arrangement of the celebration itself makes the Church stand out as being formed in a structure of different orders and ministries.” (GIRM* #58)
"WELCOME TO ST. BASIL’S CHURCH!" Welcoming the community is the role of the Hospitality ministry. The Minister of Hospitality is often the first person whom worshippers meet when they arrive at a church. Hospitality ministers welcome all parishioners and visitors to St. Basil’s with a smile.
The Hospitality minister has the responsibility to represent the assembly in offering kindness by performing ushering duties, collecting their offertory gifts for presentation at the altar and distribution of bulletins at the close of mass. (See GIRM #105)
Join the Ministry of Hospitality. Requirements include a smile and arriving fifteen minutes before mass. Training will be provided for other duties. We are all members of the Body of Christ and worship together as one family.
Youth who would like to be Hospitality Minister can contact Julie Kissinger at 644-8309
