The Altar Society promotes fellowship among the women of the St. Basil Parish and provides “behind the scenes” services to the parish.
Our tasks include laundering and preparing altar linens, maintaining altar vessels, collecting and counting candle receipts, preparing special parish mail-outs, replacing missalettes, and other services to the church as needed.
The Altar Society meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1:30 PM in the Parish Center. Membership is open to all women of St. Basil Parish. Anyone interested in helping provide these services to our parish is welcome and encouraged to join in our fellowship.
Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Hands Team is dedicated to helping our parishioners navigate St. Basil processes, and St. Basil ministries promote special events.
Our mission is to focus and attend to the diverse needs of St. Basil ministries and parishioners. We strive to enhance established Catholic traditions and incorporate new practices that promote a welcoming, loving, and safe Christian environment.
Blessed Hands members engage with parishioners to address general concerns and with St. Basil ministries for special events. We advance all efforts by building relationships with kindness, openness, respect, solidarity, and by fostering open dialog among all our St. Basil parishioners.
Meets as needed. Meetings are open to all interested parishioners.
Some ministry events we've helped with:
The Guadalupana Association of St Basil Church, Vallejo, California, was formed over 40 years ago by a small group of Hispanic parishioners to honor and promote devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The group meets on the third Sunday of each month at 1:00 pm in St Joseph's Room of the Parish Center.
We provide service to the Parish and Hispanic communities. We raise funds for scholarships for high school graduates that are going on to college.
Help is provided for grieving families and Masses are scheduled for the deceased.
We provide food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas for needy families. In December we celebrate Mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Following the Mass, we sponsor a luncheon open to the public.

The Legion of Mary is an international lay Catholic organization whose members give service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country around the world. Founded in 1931, it has over 3 million members.
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the parish life program through daily prayers, visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals, and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. The Legion of Mary seeks to lead the people we encounter in our works to greater knowledge and faith in God and to increase the faith and holiness of our own members through prayer and service to Our Lord.
The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting (Active members only), where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. Following are the various types of memberships:

Our new name serves to make Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) more efficient and effective in our mission of evangelization. Pope Francis said in October 2013, "Christian families are missionary families." That is what we hope to be. Our new name will be a great challenge for us to live out. It will be our privilege and our responsibility.
We will continue to serve and support our parish as choir members, council members, religious education catechists, lectors, and extraordinary Eucharistic ministers.
MFC submitted the required paperwork and received confirmation with the State of California as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization effective October 11, 2019.
The St. Basil's Prayer Shawl Ministry was established in 1995. We are a group of women who meet together once a month to knit and pray. The mission of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to knit prayers into shawls for those in need of comfort and support.
To date, we have made and distributed over 1,000 scarves for the poor and homeless, and 380 prayer shawls for family and friends.
We have sent packages to Afghan women containing handmade articles, children's clothing, toys, and school materials.
We are contributors to Heifer International to supply wool-producing animals to women with a Knitter's Gift Basket.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is open to anyone who would like to gather for prayer and fellowship while continuing the age-old practice of knitting and crocheting. Instructions are available.

Single adults are people without spouses.
This includes the divorced, never-married, widow, and widower. Remember there will be divorced, never-married, widows, and widowers who are also single parents.
While it is easy to think of never-married people as young adults or widows and widowers as older adults, you’ll find single adults in every age group.
The mission of the Friends in Faith Ministry is to provide all single adults in our Catholic Community with a forum that allows each of us
The Friends in Faith Ministry meets every the 3rd Sunday of the month at 5:30 pm in the St. Joseph Room, St. Basil Parish Center.
Together with members from neighboring parishes, this ministry plans festive events and takes occasional day trips to places of interest in the Bay Area.

Formed in 1992, the charismatic group meets every Thursday, evening, in the Msgr Byrne room of the church. The group meets to sing, praise, and worship the readings from the Mass and reflect and share how the Word of God helps them lead better lives. The members also pray for the intentions in the parish petition book. The meetings end with fellowship, a sharing in companionship, and friendship.
Members also devote time to visit and pray for the sick. serve at the Christian Help Center, and sing Christmas Carols at nursing homes during the holidays.
The charismatic group's work extends beyond St Basil and includes a Tri-Parish Mass held once a quarter. It will be followed next quarter by a Tri-Parish Mass at St Catherine of Siena Church, then at St Vincent Ferrer Church.
The Spirit of The Living God Charismatic Ministry is always looking for new members to join us. You will be welcomed.
