Father Ambrose is the target of a Phishing Scam.
Several parishioners have received email or text message that appears to have originated from Father Ambrose.O.Ugwuegbu.
The bad actors in this case most likely are requesting gift cards or some other monetary favor.
The email or text reads as follow:
Divine Blessings
Hi, How are you doing? I urgently need a favor from you. Please email (call) me here as soon as you get. this email (message).
Thank You.
God Bless You.
Fr. Ambrose O. Ugwuegbu
This email is suspicious for the following reasons:
1. Fr. Ambrose will never make a request as such via email. He will seek you out personally for "very important" requests.
2. The email address used is not Fr. Ambrose's email address. The scammer's email address is
[email protected]
3. The phone number does not belong to Fr. Ambrose or the parish.
