This year, due to complications of the Covid-19 pandemic, SVdP members anticipated
we may not have access to the church for our annual Christmas Giving Tree.
Because of this, we made the tough decision to continue to
provide a meal basket for needy families, but no gifts for the children.
If you are able, we especially need hams for the 65 Christmas meal boxes
- either a 5lb canned ham or a bone-in ham.
Volunteers will be present at the 8:30 am First Saturday Mass
and the 9:30 am Sunday Masses on Dec. 6th and 13th to accept your donations.
Other items we still need are listed below:
Canned Yams (large)
Canned Fruit Cocktail
Canned Pineapple (chucks or rings)
Large box of Jello or Instant Pudding
Bag of small marshmallows
Christmas Cookies (bakery or store-bought)
If your family prefers to donate toys, we recommend you contribute to Toys for Tots at any local Fire Station.
The St. Basil Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul ("SVdP") sees as its mission to serve anyone in need through a direct person-to-person food delivery program, helping clients to become self-sufficient, and consistently treating all our clients with dignity and respect. Our primary goal is acting out our faith by providing loving and compassionate interest in individuals in need. It is in loving others where the contact with Christ emerges.
SVdP plans and provides special dinner baskets for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Christmas also includes a "Giving Tree" which allows the entire parish to participate in supplying needed gifts for the children of the families we serve. An Annual "Walk for the Poor" fundraiser supports our work to continue delivering emergency food to the needy of our community.
Meetings are held on the 1st Monday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Fr. Garrigan Room. All are welcome!
A heartfelt thank you to all the parishioners and school families who donated food, turkeys, canned hams, and gifts for our St. Basil Conference Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday programs. We delivered 60 Thanksgiving meals and 83 Christmas meals to local needy families. Generous parishioners donated gifts for 212 children. Simbang Gabi Ministry members gathered 1000 pounds of food for us! We could not do it without you. May God be your reward.
Thank you!!
